DWF is an independent organisation established in 2002 by a broad range of stakeholders from the Danish water sector - water companies, public authorities, private organisations and research institutions, aimed at coordinating Danish expertise and knowledge and facilitating concerted actions such as meetings, conferences and other activities on water.

One of the main activities of DWF is running DWF Research - a knowledge network, financed by the Ministry for Foreign affairs, for water and development that promotes knowledge and research as important elements in Danish development assistance both in water programmes and with water as a component in other sector programmes in cooperation with Fiva - International Research School of Water Resources.

One of DWF’s main activities is – through DWF Research - the coordination of and assistance to new knowledge and research on water and development among Danish actors and in relation to Danish development assistance programmes.
